Spring Film Series

Fridays, March 17, 24 & 31, 7pm

In the City
Amélie · Lost in Translation · La La Land

Amélie (2001), Friday, March 17 – A fanciful comedy about a young woman who discretely orchestrates the lives of the people around her, creating a world exclusively of her own making. Shot in over 80 Parisian locations, with visionary style that captures the exquisite charm and mystery of modern-day Paris through the eyes of a beautiful ingenue.

Lost in Translation (2003), Friday, March 24 – A lonely, aging movie star named Bob Harris and a conflicted newlywed, Charlotte, meet in Tokyo. Bob is there to film a Japanese whiskey commercial; Charlotte is accompanying her celebrity-photographer husband. They find escape, distraction and understanding amidst the bright Tokyo lights after a chance meeting in the quiet lull of the hotel bar, forming a bond that is as unlikely as it is heartfelt and meaningful.

La La Land (2016), Friday, March 31 – Sebastian and Mia are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love in Los Angeles. But as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.
