S.M. Hulse is the author of the debut novel Black River, which won the 2015 Reading the West Book Award for Fiction and was a 2016 Pen/Hemingway Award Finalist. She received her MFA from the University of Oregon and her stories have appeared in Willow Springs, Witness and Salamander. She recently accepted a position as Assistant Professor of English in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Nevada, Reno.
